MV Gainsborough Trader was built in 1931 at Richard Dunston’s shipyard in Thorne.
She has had an interesting history; not least the evacuation of Dunkirk – Operation Dynamo – under the name MFH, during May/June 1940, which makes her eligible to be called a ‘Dunkirk Little Ship’. Anyway, that was a close one … and less of the little!
She presently resides in Greenland Dock, Rotherhithe, London … in pretty good health.
